First Day!

Good morning! We are on the second day of school, but I have to tell you that our first day was one of the best I've had in my career. I'm so looking forward to this year with your kids. I think it's going to be a lot of fun.

I hope you found the paperwork I sent home yesterday. Please send in the yellow field trip form ASAP. You can send in the picture form whenever you like, but picture day isn't until September 13. I'd like book order forms returned to me by September 15th, but you can also order online, if you'd like. You can use the code HDGZT when ordering so that the order connects with my classroom.

I do have a newsletter with all of these important dates, but I forgot to send it home. I'll send that home today. Let me know if you have any questions! Have a great day!

Field Trip Tomorrow!

Good evening! Just wanted to post a reminder that we have our field trip tomorrow. Your child will need a lunch to bring with them. Additionally, they may want to bring an umbrella or coat as there is some rain in the forecast. I'm hoping it will miss us, but it's better to be prepared than wet! We are chugging along in class! We are about at the midway point in our first chapter in math. We are doing pretty well with place value but have some extra work to do on rounding. We will look at addition, subtraction, and perimeter next week. In reading, we are in the middle of Unit 1 Week 2. We are studying realistic fiction and how to identify characters, setting, and plot while reading this type of text. Our next spelling test will take place next Wednesday. In science, we continue to investigate energy. We played with marbles today to observe what happens when we make them collide. Informational Books

Good afternoon! Recently, we've been reading a lot about motion, energy, friction, and forces. Today we started compiling that information into books! Students are in groups of three to write informational books about force, motion, gravity, and friction. Their book will include a table of contents, illustrations, captions, and a glossary. On Friday, we will take our books to Mrs. Freeland's class and share them with her students. Here are some pictures from our work today; Just a reminder that we have a spelling test tomorrow. Welcome to the 2017 - 2018 School Year!

Greetings! It was good to see so many of you at Open House last night! I enjoyed meeting you and your child, and I'm so excited for next Monday. If you didn't send in supplies or the Student Interest Inventory, then please send them in on Monday. You can also send in the Technology Acceptable Use policy. If you were not at Open House, then I will send these forms home on Monday. Please return them ASAP. All papers will come home in your child's take-home folder. I will send home some other important papers on Monday. You will find a field trip form, which will cover any trips we take this year, and a picture order form.
